Ibex X-Ray First Impression

Got to ride the Ibex X-ray today. I was planning to head to the beach on a 30 mile trip but due to time constraints I ended up riding 18 miles. Here’s my first impression:
Dude, this bike F@#$ing Rocks!!!
Sorry about the outburst, my inner dude got the best of me.

My choice of gearing, 44X16, allowed me to really push this bike over 20 mph!!. The ride is very, very comfortable. The combination of the Evo Carbon fiber Fork and the Ritchey CrossMax tires made the bike feel like it had a front suspension. I always dread riding over small gaps or small potholes on the river trail with my road bikes. This bike absorbed all of the bumps really well. Part of my ride involves going thru gates and underpasses, these underpasses are usually full of sand and mudt… I didn’t have to slow down, nor worry about washing out on the dirt with the X-Ray, I just kept pedaling.

Part of the trail has dirt on the right side, so I decided to show off a little by passing people on the right, using the dirt as my pathway. Yes I got weird looks, especially by roadies. One roadie mentioned to me that I was nuts riding on the dirt and I will get a flat.
So far, this bike is really fun to ride. I think I’m going to put an 18t on the rear, it will make it easier for me to spin instead of pushing hard on the pedals.
I will be riding this bike to work soon. I’m confident that this bike will excel on the rough streets of L.A. Come back for my full review soon!

This has got to be the first SS Cyclocross bike I’ve ever seen. Great job!

The bike looks great just standing still. Ibex frames just look great. One of my riding bud’s rides a 10-year old Ibex that he just upgrades components on every three years or so, he likes the frame that much. So how about the hills? 18T on the rear ought to help there. Also - what rims are you running?

The rims are Ritchey Girder XC. The peculiar thing about this bike, the rear needs an MTB hub.
