I recently purchased the 07' DB Transporter for, what seemed like, a stellar deal. I work about 20 miles from my house and intended to use it as a (1) day a week commuter and daily reacreation bike with my (2) kids and a trailer.
I will be the second or third to mention it's not the best speed commuter bike you can find, but where it lacks in sheer speed it seems to make up in it's flexibility of terrain and comfort. My kids love to hop in the trailer and take the trails in a forest near my house and that is something a standard speed bike wouldn't dream of.
Just rode it in this morning and was once again happy with it's performance.

I just recently bought a DB Transporter, replacing a Schwinn F/S mountain bike for city commuting. I had initially thought of buying a Gary Fisher Artemis, but was advised by my LBS worker not to since they have similar components, and that the DB was a rock solid choice.

I am not a fast cyclist, yet, I like to get there. The DB rocks! I rode 17 miles to my school today in about 1.5 hours, and did not really feel any bit of exhaustion. The bike handles turns well, especially with these erratic NYC cabbies. The tires seem to allow for great level of grip, yet not so much that I feel impaired by the choice (I was suggested not to swap out, which was the original plan). The gearing system is smooth and precise, and changes in snap. I live by some great trails off of Pelham Parkway, leading to City Island, and I have done some lite off road riding, and again I was satisfied with it's handling of the turf.

I could go on, but bottom line, DB Transporter is a great ride, and a bargain for the money.
